I've often been humbled by the realization that the study of "scales" for their own sake is practically useless for developing true musicality, and my project has come under fire from some respectable musicians.
Nonetheless, there's a huge market for scale reference and instruction, and some of the feedback I've received has been enthusiastic. As I've dug deeper into this obsession, my harmonic understanding has increased dramatically, and I've gained a higher respect for the music of other cultures, especially those who do not divide their octaves into twelve tones! |
My hope is that this work will provide you with fresh and colorful ways to hear and express melody and harmony. Have fun with it, and feel free to email me with any input.
